Drug Addiction Facts

  • Older adults who drink have an increased sensitivity to alcohol due to the fact that aging can lower the body's tolerance for alcohol, and therefore experience the effects of alcohol more readily than when they were younger.
  • Many fentanyl overdoses are initially classified as heroin overdoses, until the truth is discovered.
  • The majority of primary methamphetamine admissions to substance abuse treatment facilities in 2011 were male (53 percent).

Hospital Inpatient

Hospital inpatient services are accessible to anybody who must be safely managed through detoxification services when heavily addicted to drugs, or who needs a better spectrum of care such as someone who is dealing with a dual diagnosis so also needs mental health services during their rehab procedure. You can find both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services available.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation facilities accept Medicaid when the individual cannot self pay or present some other kind of private medical insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term rehabilitation inside a limited amount of centers, and in such cases individuals might want to investigate the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they're able to to pay for a more quality rehabilitation center that will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential drug rehabilitation center.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of alcohol and drug rehab if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not a choice. If a person does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could be eligible for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only inside the state which offers the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some form of drug and alcohol treatment service including outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers. Individuals could have to participate in a drug and alcohol rehab facility that is in their network of providers and there may be other restrictions like the length of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can pick a good center they like and speak with a rehabilitation specialist to find out if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the expense of particular drug abuse treatment solutions. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient programs along with partial hospitalization are all paid for by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization and in that case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There might be some limitations concerning how much time a stay in inpatient drug treatment is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered prior to starting rehab so that it is clear just how long and individual can remain in the rehabilitation program of choice.
