Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehab services in terms of level of care, as the individual will be able to preserve their lifestyle in several ways without the commitment of needing to remain in a rehab program while undergoing rehab services. While this might appear ideal it may not provide the much needed change of atmosphere than many individuals in treatment require to experience a successful rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance won't cover the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for some of it. In these cases, it may appear like a drawback but people actually have a great deal of leverage simply because they can choose whichever center they want without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people face. Likewise, rehab facilities will usually offer payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation programs will take Medicaid in the event the individual is unable to self pay or present another kind of private medical insurance. Medicaid may possibly cover outpatient and short-term rehabilitation in a limited amount of facilities, and in cases like this individuals may wish to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they are able to to fund a more quality treatment center that will produce better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive treatment at alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehab if the facility is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed physician, who must aid in establishing the individual's treatment plan. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being the same as any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient treatment being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of drug and alcohol treatment if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a choice. If a person doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they might be eligible for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but typically only inside the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some kind of drug and alcohol rehab service which range from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab programs. Individuals might have to participate in a drug rehab center which is inside their network of providers and there could be other limitations such as the amount of time their stay in treatment is covered. Individuals can choose a quality program they like and consult with a rehab counselor to find out if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the price of certain drug abuse rehabilitation services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs and also partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There may be some limitations about how long a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol rehab is permitted, and all of these questions can be answered before you begin treatment so that it's clear just how long and individual can remain in the rehab program of choice.
