Hospital Inpatient

Hospital inpatient services are available to anybody who needs to be safely managed through detox services when intensely dependent to drugs, or who needs a broader spectrum of care such as someone who has a dual diagnosis so also needs mental health solutions as part of their treatment procedure. There are both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services available.

Medicaid

Some treatment facilities will take Medicaid when the individual is not able to self pay or present another kind of private medical insurance. Medicaid might pay for outpatient and short-term rehabilitation in a limited amount of programs, and in such cases individuals may want to explore the self pay option and come up with up any resources they can to cover a more quality rehabilitation center that will get better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol rehab facility.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug rehabilitation if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not an option. If a person doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they could qualify for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but generally only in the state which offers the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans generally cover some kind of drug rehab service including outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs. Individuals may have to take part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility that is in their network of providers and there can be other restrictions including just how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can choose a quality program they prefer and speak with a rehabilitation specialist to find out if their insurance covers it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the expense of certain substance abuse treatment services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient programs along with partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some limitations about the length of time a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol treatment is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered before you begin rehab so that it is clear just how long and individual can remain in the treatment center of choice.
