Self Payment

Self Payment is required when a person's insurance won't cover the entire cost of rehab or will only cover part of it. In these instances, it may seem like a disadvantage but people in fact have a much more leverage simply because they can select whichever center they would like without the restrictions from health insurance providers that so many men and women encounter. In addition, treatment centers will often provide payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to help them get into rehab.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation programs accept Medicaid if the individual cannot self pay or present any other form of private health insurance. Medicaid might cover outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of facilities, and in such cases individuals may want to investigate the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they're able to to pay for a more quality treatment program which will produce better results, like a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehab at drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehab when the program is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with establishing the person's rehab strategy. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being the same as any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

Payment Assistance (Check With Facility For Details)

Many drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers offer payment assistance to help clients who may not have sufficient resources to self pay for rehab or whose medical insurance won't provide coverage or full coverage for his or her stay. For instance, Sometimes insurance only covers a short-term facility when in actuality a long-term facility will be the more ideal option. To determine what payment assistance could be available, like a sliding fee scale, check with the program for details.
