Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the low end of the spectrum of treatment services regarding level of care, for the reason that individual is able to keep their lifestyle in many ways with no commitment of needing to stay in a rehabilitation facility while receiving rehabilitation services. While this may appear perfect it will not provide the much needed change of atmosphere than many people in recovery need to experience a successful rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when someone's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of treatment or will only cover part of it. In these instances, it may appear like a drawback but individuals really have a great deal of leverage simply because they can choose whichever center they want without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, treatment centers will frequently provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to help them get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain treatment facilities accept Medicaid in the event the individual is not able to self pay or present another kind of private health insurance. Medicaid might pay for outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of programs, and in such cases individuals may wish to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they can to cover a more quality rehab center which will get better results, say for example a long-term residential drug rehab program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehabilitation at drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help out with setting up the person's rehab plan. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being covered through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of alcohol and drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. If a person does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they might qualify for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only within the state which provides the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some sort of drug treatment service which range from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug rehab programs. Individuals might have to take part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility that is in their network of providers and there may be other restrictions such as just how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can pick a good facility they like and meet with a rehabilitation counselor to ascertain if their insurance will handle it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expense of certain substance abuse rehabilitation services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient facilities along with partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There could be some restrictions about the length of time a stay in inpatient drug rehab is allowed, and every one of these questions can be answered prior to starting rehabilitation so that it's clear the length of time and individual can remain in the rehabilitation facility of preference.
