Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehabilitation services with regards to intensity of care, since the individual is able to preserve their lifestyle in many ways without the commitment of needing to remain in a treatment center while undergoing rehabilitation services. While this might seem perfect it may not provide the required change of environment than lots of people in rehab need to experience a productive rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when a person's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for some of it. In these situations, it may seem like a disadvantage but individuals actually have a great deal of leverage because they can choose whichever program they would like without the restrictions from health insurers that so many individuals encounter. In addition, rehab centers will usually provide payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain rehab facilities accept Medicaid when the individual is not able to self pay or present any other form of private health insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of facilities, and in this case individuals may wish to investigate the self pay alternative and come up with up any resources they can to fund a more quality rehabilitation center which will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential drug treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehab at drug treatment facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient treatment when the facility is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with establishing the person's rehabilitation plan. Inpatient services are provided through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being just like any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the expense of certain drug abuse rehabilitation services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient centers along with partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some limitations regarding how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug rehab is permitted, and every one of these questions will be answered prior to starting treatment so that it's clear how long and individual can remain in the treatment center of choice.
