Hospital Inpatient

Hospital inpatient services are accessible to anyone that has to be safely managed through detoxification services when intensely addicted to drugs and alcohol, or who needs a better spectrum of care such as somebody who is dealing with a dual diagnosis so also requires mental health services during their rehab procedure. You'll find both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services available.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when a person's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of rehabilitation or will only pay for some of it. In these cases, it may appear like a drawback but people in fact have a great deal of leverage because they can select whichever facility they would like without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, rehabilitation centers will often provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some treatment programs accept Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present another type of private health care insurance. Medicaid may possibly pay for outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of programs, and in this instance individuals may choose to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they can to fund a more quality rehabilitation center which will get better results, such as a long-term residential alcohol and drug treatment facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at alcohol and drug rehab centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the center is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must aid in setting up the individual's treatment strategy. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being exactly like any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol treatment if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't an option. When someone doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they may be eligible for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office within their area to figure out if they are and then fill out an application. The majority of state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but usually only within the state which provides the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans generally cover some kind of drug treatment service including outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs. Individuals could possibly have to take part in a drug rehab program that is in their network of providers and there can be other restrictions such as the amount of time their stay in treatment is covered. Individuals can choose a good facility they like and consult with a rehabilitation counselor to ascertain if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the expenses of certain substance abuse rehab services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient programs along with partial hospitalization are paid for by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization in which case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some restrictions as to how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug rehabilitation is permitted, and all of these questions will be answered before you start rehab so that it's clear how long and individual can stay in the rehabilitation facility of preference.
