Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive treatment at drug treatment facilities which provide either inpatient or outpatient treatment when the facility is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must assist in establishing the individual's rehab plan. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of drug and alcohol rehab if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't an option. If a person doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they may qualify for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then fill out an application. The majority of state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but usually only in the state which offers the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some type of drug rehabilitation service including outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities. Individuals could possibly have to participate in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that is in their network of providers and there might be other limitations such as the length of time their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can choose a good center they prefer and consult with a rehab counselor to ascertain if their insurance covers it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the expenses of particular substance abuse rehabilitation solutions. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient facilities in addition to partial hospitalization are paid for by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative.
