Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of rehab solutions in terms of level of care, as the individual will be able to maintain their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of having to remain in a treatment program while undergoing treatment services. While this may appear ideal it will not provide the much needed change of environment than many individuals in treatment need to have a productive rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance won't pay for the total cost of treatment or will only pay for part of it. In these instances, it may seem like a drawback but people in fact have a great deal of leverage because they can choose whichever program they want without the restrictions from health insurers that so many individuals face. Likewise, treatment facilities will often offer payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain rehabilitation facilities will take Medicaid if the individual is unable to self pay or present any other type of private health insurance. Medicaid might cover outpatient and short-term rehab inside a limited amount of facilities, and in such cases individuals may want to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality treatment program which will get better results, such as a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive treatment at drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the program is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with establishing the person's treatment strategy. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being exactly like any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug and alcohol treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could qualify for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but usually only inside the state which offers the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans generally cover some kind of drug rehabilitation service ranging from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers. Individuals may have to take part in a drug and alcohol treatment facility that is in their network of providers and there could be other limitations for example the amount of time their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select a good center they like and meet with a treatment specialist to ascertain if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the expense of certain substance abuse rehabilitation services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient centers along with partial hospitalization are all paid for by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some limitations as to how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug rehab is allowed, and every one of these questions can be answered before you begin rehab so that it's clear how long and individual can remain in the treatment center of choice.
