  • Ecstasy affects many of the same areas of the brain that are targeted by other addictive drugs, and studies show that animals prefer the drug, much like they do cocaine, over other pleasurable stimuli, which is another hallmark of most addictive drugs.
  • Heroin is the most commonly cited substance in mortality cases where illicit drugs are present in Philadelphia, and in 2011 heroin/morphine was found in 32.4 percent of cases.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when a person's insurance isn't going to pay for the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for part of it. In these cases, it may appear like a drawback but individuals in fact have a great deal of leverage simply because they can decide on whichever facility they want without the restrictions from health insurance providers that so many individuals face. In addition, treatment centers will frequently provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Some treatment centers will take Medicaid in the event the individual is not able to self pay or present another type of private medical insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term rehabilitation within a limited amount of centers, and in this instance individuals might want to investigate the self pay option and come up with up any resources they can to fund a more quality treatment center that will get better results, such as a long-term residential drug rehabilitation center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive treatment at alcohol and drug treatment facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient treatment if the center is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in establishing the person's rehabilitation plan. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with up front costs being just like any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Part B.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans generally cover some type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service including outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs. Individuals may have to participate in a drug treatment program which is within their network of providers and there can be other limitations including just how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can pick a quality program they prefer and speak with a treatment counselor to determine if their insurance will handle it.
