Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the low end of the spectrum of rehabilitation services with regards to level of care, since the individual will be able to keep their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of having to be in a treatment program while receiving rehabilitation services. While this may seem ideal it will not provide the required change of atmosphere than many people in treatment require to have a productive rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when someone's insurance isn't going to pay for the total cost of rehabilitation or will only cover some of it. In these situations, it may seem like a disadvantage but individuals actually have a much more leverage because they can decide on whichever program they would like without the limitations from health insurance providers that so many individuals encounter. In addition, rehab facilities will often provide payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehab.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation centers accept Medicaid when the individual cannot self pay or present some other type of private health care insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term rehab in a limited amount of facilities, and in cases like this individuals may choose to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they can to pay for a more quality rehabilitation facility that will produce better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't an option. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might qualify for state insurance, they should talk with their Social Services office within their area to ascertain if they are and then fill out an application. The majority of state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only inside the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health insurance plans generally cover some sort of drug treatment service which range from outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities. Individuals might have to take part in an alcohol and drug treatment program which is within their network of providers and there might be other restrictions such as just how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select an excellent facility they like and speak with a rehab specialist to find out if their insurance will handle it.
