Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehabilitation services in terms of intensity of care, since the individual is able to keep their lifestyle in lots of ways with no commitment of having to be in a rehabilitation center while undergoing treatment services. Although this may seem ideal it might not provide the much needed change of environment than a lot of people in treatment need to have a successful rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when someone's insurance won't pay for the total cost of rehabilitation or will only cover part of it. In these instances, it may seem like a drawback but people actually have a great deal of leverage because they can select whichever program they want without the limitations from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, rehabilitation facilities will often offer payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some rehab facilities accept Medicaid if the individual cannot self pay or present some other kind of private medical health insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of centers, and in such cases individuals might want to explore the self pay alternative and come up with up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality rehabilitation center that will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at alcohol and drug rehab programs which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehab when the center is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with setting up the individual's treatment strategy. Inpatient services are provided through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being the same as any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being paid for through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol rehabilitation if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not an option. If a person doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they might be eligible for state insurance, they should talk with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but usually only within the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans generally cover some type of drug rehab service ranging from outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs. Individuals may have to participate in a drug treatment program that is inside their network of providers and there can be other limitations like how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can pick a quality facility they prefer and meet with a treatment counselor to determine if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the costs of particular substance abuse rehab services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities and also partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some restrictions as to how long a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is permitted, and every one of these questions can be answered prior to starting rehabilitation so that it is clear how long and individual can stay in the rehabilitation program of choice.
