There are both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services available.

Seniors/Older Adults

Seniors and older adults who have a problem with substance abuse may have unique challenges they have to conquer while in treatment, which rehabilitation specialists in the facility they elect to be a part of must be keen of so that a full recovery is possible. So for seniors and older adults, it is advisable to pick a facility that's used to helping seniors and older adults deal with the distinctive life and drug use problems that these clients face which can include a wider spectrum of solutions including medical care and the like.

ASL or Other Assistance for Hearing Impaired

The hearing impaired can often be predisposed to alcoholism and drug and alcohol use due to the challenges their impairment impose on them. While discovery of this issue can sometimes be hard among the hearing impaired, you will find ASL along with other assistance services readily available for them when substance abuse rehab is needed. Aside from ASL, such services can include assistive listening tools and captioned video resources to ensure that deaf and hearing impaired folks are obtaining the support they require in drug and alcohol treatment.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when someone's insurance won't pay for the total cost of treatment or will only pay for some of it. In these instances, it may appear like a disadvantage but individuals actually have a great deal of leverage because they can decide on whichever program they would like without the limitations from health insurers that so many people face. In addition, treatment facilities will usually provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Certain treatment centers will take Medicaid when the individual is unable to self pay or present any other type of private health care insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of facilities, and in this instance individuals may choose to investigate the self pay alternative and come up with up any resources they can to pay for a more quality rehabilitation center that will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential alcohol and drug treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at drug rehab centers which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in setting up the person's rehab strategy. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being the same as any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of drug and alcohol treatment if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. If a person has no private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they might qualify for state insurance, they should seek advice from their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but usually only in the state which offers the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some sort of alcohol and drug treatment service ranging from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers. Individuals may have to take part in a drug and alcohol rehab center that's in their network of providers and there could be other restrictions including just how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can select a quality facility they prefer and speak with a treatment specialist to ascertain if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the price of certain drug abuse treatment solutions. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs in addition to partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There may be some restrictions about just how long a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation is allowed, and every one of these questions can be answered before beginning treatment so that it is clear how much time and individual can remain in the rehabilitation program of preference.
