Drug Addiction Facts

  • Most inpatient rehabilitation facilities follow the 12-step model of recovery. The patient is expected to attend at least 2 groups with their fellow patients daily.
  • Mixing prescription stimulants with alcohol enhances the effects of both substances, increasing the risk of death from overdose.
  • Inpatient drug rehabilitation recovery options are found in many forms, but the primary purpose is keeping the individual stay somewhere during their treatment so he/she can focus on healing, without the interruption of daily life to open the door to using drugs or alcohol.

Hospital Inpatient

Hospital inpatient services are available to anyone that needs to be safely managed through detox services when intensely addicted to drugs, or who needs a better spectrum of care such as someone who has a dual diagnosis so also requires mental health services during their rehab procedure. You can find both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services available.

Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of treatment services regarding level of care, as the individual can maintain their lifestyle in several ways without the commitment of having to stay in a rehabilitation facility while undergoing rehab services. Even if this may seem perfect it may not provide the required change of atmosphere than lots of people in recovery need to have a successful rehabilitation.

ASL or Other Assistance for Hearing Impaired

The hearing impaired are often predisposed to alcoholism and drug abuse because of the problems that their impairment impose on them. While detection of this problem can be difficult among the hearing impaired, there are ASL and other assistance services readily available for them when substance abuse rehabilitation is required. Aside from ASL, such services can sometimes include assistive listening equipment and captioned video materials so that deaf and hearing impaired people are receiving the support they need in drug rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when someone's insurance won't cover the entire cost of treatment or will only cover part of it. In these situations, it may seem like a disadvantage but individuals actually have a great deal of leverage because they can select whichever center they want without the limitations from health insurance companies that so many individuals face. In addition, treatment facilities will frequently offer payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to help them get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain treatment programs accept Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present some other form of private health care insurance. Medicaid may possibly cover outpatient and short-term rehab in a limited amount of centers, and in this case individuals may want to investigate the self pay option and drum up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality rehab program that will produce better results, such as a long-term residential drug rehab facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehabilitation at drug rehab facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation if the program is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must aid in establishing the individual's treatment plan. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of alcohol and drug rehab if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't a choice. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might qualify for state insurance, they can seek advice from their Social Services office within their area to figure out if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but usually only within the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans typically cover some form of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service including outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug rehab centers. Individuals could have to participate in a drug and alcohol rehab center that is inside their network of providers and there may be other limitations like just how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select an excellent program they like and speak with a rehab specialist to find out if their insurance covers it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expense of particular substance abuse rehab solutions. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities as well as partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some restrictions regarding how long a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is permitted, and all of these questions can be answered before you begin treatment so that it's clear the length of time and individual can stay in the rehabilitation facility of preference.
