Drug Addiction Facts

  • In Germany, one-half of drug-related deaths are caused in whole or in part by methadone.
  • Fentanyl sometimes causes muscle rigidity with greater frequency than other opioids.
  • If an individual wishes to get off of fentanyl and stop the cycle of addiction, a drug detox facility can help them through detox and withdrawal and a drug rehab program can treat the individual for addiction.

Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of rehabilitation solutions in terms of level of care, as the individual will be able to preserve their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of having to stay in a treatment facility while undergoing rehab services. Even though this may appear ideal it may not provide the much needed change of atmosphere than many individuals in rehab require to have a productive rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance won't cover the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for part of it. In these cases, it may appear like a disadvantage but people actually have a great deal of leverage because they can decide on whichever program they would like without the limitations from health insurance providers that so many people encounter. Likewise, rehab facilities will often offer payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to help them get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation programs will take Medicaid when the individual cannot self pay or present some other form of private health care insurance. Medicaid may possibly cover outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of facilities, and in this case individuals may wish to explore the self pay alternative and come up with up any resources they can to pay for a more quality treatment program that will produce better results, such as a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehab if the facility is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must assist in establishing the person's rehab strategy. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with up front costs being just like any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't a choice. If a person doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know if they may be eligible for state insurance, they should talk with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but usually only in the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some sort of drug rehabilitation service including outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities. Individuals could have to participate in a drug rehabilitation program that's within their network of providers and there may be other limitations for example how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select a quality program they like and consult with a rehab specialist to determine if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expense of particular drug abuse treatment services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs and also partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some limitations regarding just how long a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered before beginning rehabilitation so that it's clear how much time and individual can stay in the treatment center of preference.
