Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the bottom end of the spectrum of treatment services with regards to level of care, since the individual will be able to maintain their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of needing to be in a treatment facility while receiving rehab services. Even though this may seem ideal it will not provide the required change of environment than many people in rehab require to have a productive rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance isn't going to cover the total cost of rehabilitation or will only pay for part of it. In these situations, it may appear like a disadvantage but people really have a much more leverage simply because they can select whichever center they would like without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, rehabilitation facilities will frequently provide payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation centers accept Medicaid in the event the individual cannot self pay or present another type of private medical insurance. Medicaid might cover outpatient and short-term treatment within a limited amount of centers, and in this case individuals may want to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they can to fund a more quality rehabilitation facility which will produce better results, such as a long-term residential drug treatment program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehabilitation at drug and alcohol treatment facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the facility is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with setting up the individual's rehabilitation plan. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being similar to any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol rehabilitation if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not a choice. When someone doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could be eligible for state insurance, they can talk with their Social Services office in their area to figure out if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but typically only in the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans generally cover some kind of alcohol and drug rehab service including outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities. Individuals could have to participate in a drug and alcohol treatment center that's within their network of providers and there can be other restrictions such as how long their stay in treatment is covered. Individuals can choose a good facility they like and speak with a rehab counselor to find out if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the costs of certain substance abuse treatment solutions. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient facilities along with partial hospitalization are paid for by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some restrictions as to the length of time a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is allowed, and every one of these questions can be answered before you begin rehab so that it is clear how long and individual can remain in the treatment program of choice.
