Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehab solutions with regards to level of care, as the individual can preserve their lifestyle in many ways without the commitment of having to stay in a rehabilitation facility while receiving treatment services. Even though this may appear ideal it may not provide the required change of environment than many individuals in recovery need to have a successful rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance won't cover the total cost of treatment or will only cover part of it. In these cases, it may seem like a disadvantage but individuals actually have a great deal of leverage simply because they can decide on whichever facility they would like without the restrictions from health insurers that so many men and women face. Likewise, rehab centers will usually provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some rehab facilities accept Medicaid when the individual is not able to self pay or present another type of private health insurance. Medicaid might cover outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of programs, and in this instance individuals may choose to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they are able to to fund a more quality rehabilitation program which will produce better results, such as a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek treatment at alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehab when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must assist in establishing the person's treatment plan. Inpatient services are provided through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being exactly like any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being paid for through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of alcohol and drug rehabilitation if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. When someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might be eligible for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but usually only inside the state which provides the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private health insurance plans typically cover some form of drug rehabilitation service which range from outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers. Individuals may have to participate in a drug rehabilitation program that is in their network of providers and there can be other limitations such as the amount of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can choose a quality center they prefer and meet with a rehabilitation specialist to determine if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the expenses of certain drug abuse rehab solutions. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities in addition to partial hospitalization are all paid for by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some limitations as to how much time a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation is permitted, and all of these questions will be answered before beginning rehabilitation so that it is clear how long and individual can remain in the treatment facility of choice.

Sliding Fee Scale

A sliding fee scale is a payment assistance option provided by a variety of alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs to help help individuals afford treatment where this may not have been doable originally. As an example, one client's price for rehabilitation may be different and lower than another person whose financial situation is better which makes them better able to pay the full expense of treatment. Registrars take into consideration other factors in addition to income including number of dependents to ascertain the final cost and using the sliding scale.
