Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the low end of the spectrum of rehab services with regards to intensity of care, because the individual is able to maintain their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of needing to stay in a rehabilitation facility while undergoing treatment services. Even if this might seem perfect it may not provide the much needed change of environment than many people in treatment need to experience a productive rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance isn't going to cover the total cost of rehab or will only cover part of it. In these situations, it may seem like a drawback but individuals actually have a great deal of leverage because they can choose whichever facility they would like without the restrictions from health insurers that so many people face. Likewise, treatment centers will frequently provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to help them get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain rehabilitation facilities will take Medicaid if the individual cannot self pay or present any other kind of private health insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term rehab inside a limited amount of facilities, and in this case individuals may want to investigate the self pay option and come up with up any resources they can to pay for a more quality rehab center that will produce better results, like a long-term residential drug treatment facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive treatment at drug and alcohol treatment facilities which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation if the center is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in establishing the individual's rehabilitation strategy. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being the same as any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being covered through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of alcohol and drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not an option. If a person doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might be eligible for state insurance, they can talk with their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but generally only within the state which provides the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans generally cover some sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service including outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities. Individuals may have to take part in an alcohol and drug treatment program which is inside their network of providers and there can be other restrictions including the amount of time their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select a good facility they like and consult with a treatment specialist to determine if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the price of particular drug abuse rehabilitation services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities and also partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There can be some restrictions concerning how long a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol treatment is allowed, and all of these questions will be answered before you start treatment so that it's clear how much time and individual can stay in the treatment program of choice.

Payment Assistance (Check With Facility For Details)

Many drug rehab programs provide payment assistance to help clients who might not have enough funds to self pay for rehabilitation or whose medical insurance won't supply coverage or total coverage for his or her stay. As an example, Occasionally insurance only covers a short-term program when in fact a long-term program will be the more suitable selection. To determine what payment assistance may be available, say for example a sliding fee scale, check with the center for particulars.
