Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehabilitation services in terms of level of care, since the individual can preserve their lifestyle in many ways with no commitment of needing to stay in a rehabilitation facility while undergoing treatment services. Even though this might appear ideal it may not provide the much needed change of environment than a lot of people in rehabilitation have to have to have a productive rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when a person's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of treatment or will only cover some of it. In these instances, it may appear like a disadvantage but individuals really have a much more leverage simply because they can select whichever facility they want without the restrictions from health insurers that so many people face. In addition, treatment facilities will often offer payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation programs accept Medicaid when the individual is unable to self pay or present any other form of private medical health insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term rehab within a limited amount of programs, and in such cases individuals may wish to investigate the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they are able to to fund a more quality rehab center that will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential alcohol and drug treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehab at drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the facility is in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in setting up the person's rehabilitation plan. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol treatment if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they could qualify for state insurance, they should consult their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but typically only inside the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans generally cover some kind of drug rehab service ranging from outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. Individuals may have to participate in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center which is in their network of providers and there can be other limitations like the amount of time their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can choose a good facility they like and consult with a rehabilitation specialist to determine if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the costs of particular drug abuse treatment services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs in addition to partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare consultant. There might be some limitations concerning how much time a stay in inpatient drug rehab is permitted, and all of these questions can be answered prior to starting treatment so that it is clear just how long and individual can remain in the treatment facility of choice.
