Drug Addiction Facts

  • Research shows that the driving skills of someone under the influence of marijuana are impaired for at least 4-6 hours after smoking a single marijuana cigarette, long after the "high" is gone.
  • Crack cocaine's side effects also include something that is commonly known as "crack lung", the symptoms of which include severe chest pains, breathing problems, and an extremely high body temperature which can result in respiratory failure and even death.
  • Inpatient drug rehabilitation requires the patient to be away from work and home for at least 30, 60 or even 90 days or longer.

Hospital Inpatient

Hospital inpatient services are accessible to anybody who has to be safely managed through detox services when heavily dependent to alcohol and drugs, or who requires a better spectrum of care such as someone who has a dual diagnosis so also requires mental health solutions as part of their treatment process. You will find both short-term and long-term hospital inpatient services offered.

ASL or Other Assistance for Hearing Impaired

The hearing impaired can often be prone to alcoholism and drug and alcohol use as a result of challenges that their impairment impose on them. While discovery of this problem can be hard among the hearing impaired, there are ASL and other assistance services intended for them when drug abuse rehabilitation is required. Besides ASL, such services might include assistive listening tools and captioned video materials to ensure that deaf and hearing impaired people are obtaining the support they require in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance won't pay for the total cost of rehabilitation or will only cover part of it. In these cases, it may appear like a disadvantage but individuals in fact have a great deal of leverage due to the fact they can select whichever center they would like without the limitations from health insurance providers that so many people face. Likewise, treatment facilities will frequently provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some rehabilitation centers will take Medicaid in the event the individual is unable to self pay or present another form of private health care insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term treatment in a limited amount of programs, and in such cases individuals may wish to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they are able to to cover a more quality treatment program which will get better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at alcohol and drug rehab programs which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the facility is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help in establishing the person's rehabilitation strategy. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug rehab if other forms of insurance or self payment are not a choice. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they may be eligible for state insurance, they can seek advice from their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but generally only in the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some form of drug rehabilitation service including outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities. Individuals could possibly have to participate in a drug and alcohol treatment center that is within their network of providers and there might be other limitations like the amount of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can choose an excellent program they prefer and consult with a rehab specialist to determine if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expense of particular drug abuse rehabilitation solutions. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient facilities along with partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization and in that case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare consultant. There can be some restrictions as to how much time a stay in inpatient drug and alcohol rehab is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered before you start rehab so that it's clear how much time and individual can remain in the rehabilitation center of choice.
