  • All inpatient treatment facilities should be very aware that no real rehab can take place unless or until the patient is physically stable. Therefore, once a new patient has been assessed and properly evaluated, they undergo any and all medically monitored detox. The detoxification process can take anywhere from 3 to 14 days depending the kind and amount of drugs and or alcohol the patient has been abusing.

Medicaid

Some rehab programs accept Medicaid when the individual is not able to self pay or present some other type of private health care insurance. Medicaid may possibly cover outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of facilities, and in such cases individuals may want to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they can to fund a more quality treatment facility which will produce better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not an option. If someone has no private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they may qualify for state insurance, they can seek advice from their Social Services office within their area to ascertain if they are and then fill out an application. The majority of state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only within the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans generally cover some type of drug rehabilitation service including outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs. Individuals may have to take part in a drug rehab facility that is within their network of providers and there could be other limitations such as how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can select a good center they prefer and speak with a treatment specialist to determine if their insurance will cover it.
