Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of rehab services in terms of intensity of care, since the individual is able to preserve their lifestyle in many ways without the commitment of needing to stay in a treatment program while undergoing rehab services. Although this might seem perfect it might not provide the required change of environment than a lot of people in treatment require to have a successful rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when someone's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for part of it. In these cases, it may seem like a disadvantage but people actually have a great deal of leverage simply because they can choose whichever center they would like without the limitations from health insurance providers that so many people encounter. Likewise, treatment programs will usually provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain treatment centers will take Medicaid if the individual is unable to self pay or present any other type of private medical insurance. Medicaid might pay for outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of centers, and in this instance individuals may want to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they are able to to cover a more quality treatment facility that will produce better results, such as a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek treatment at drug and alcohol treatment facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in establishing the person's rehabilitation strategy. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being the same as any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient treatment being paid for through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug rehab if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. When someone doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might qualify for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office within their area to figure out if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only in the state which offers the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private health insurance plans typically cover some kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service which range from outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Individuals may have to participate in a drug and alcohol rehab center which is in their network of providers and there can be other restrictions including the amount of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can choose a quality program they like and meet with a rehab counselor to determine if their insurance will handle it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expenses of certain drug abuse rehabilitation solutions. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs along with partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization in which case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There could be some limitations about how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug rehab is permitted, and every one of these questions can be answered before you start rehabilitation so that it's clear how much time and individual can stay in the rehabilitation program of preference.
