Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance isn't going to cover the total cost of rehabilitation or will only pay for part of it. In these situations, it may seem like a drawback but people in fact have a great deal of leverage simply because they can choose whichever program they want without the restrictions from health insurers that so many individuals face. Likewise, treatment centers will often provide payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain rehab programs will take Medicaid in the event the individual cannot self pay or present some other kind of private health care insurance. Medicaid may possibly cover outpatient and short-term rehab within a limited amount of centers, and in this instance individuals might want to explore the self pay option and come up with up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality treatment facility which will get better results, such as a long-term residential drug rehab program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at alcohol and drug rehab centers which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation when the center is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must assist in establishing the person's treatment strategy. Inpatient services are provided through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient treatment being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the expense of drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not a possibility. When someone has no private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they may be eligible for state insurance, they can talk with their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but typically only inside the state which provides the insurance.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health insurance plans typically cover some type of alcohol and drug rehab service which range from outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities. Individuals may have to take part in a drug rehabilitation center that's in their network of providers and there can be other limitations including the length of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can choose an excellent facility they prefer and speak with a rehab specialist to find out if their insurance will take care of it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expenses of certain drug abuse rehabilitation services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs and also partial hospitalization are paid for by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There could be some restrictions about the length of time a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is allowed, and every one of these questions will be answered prior to starting rehab so that it is clear how long and individual can remain in the rehabilitation center of choice.
