Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the low end of the spectrum of rehab solutions regarding level of care, for the reason that individual will be able to preserve their lifestyle in several ways without the commitment of needing to be in a rehab facility while receiving rehab services. While this might appear ideal it may not provide the much needed change of atmosphere than a lot of people in rehab need to have a productive rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance won't cover the entire cost of rehab or will only cover part of it. In these cases, it may appear like a disadvantage but people actually have a much more leverage simply because they can choose whichever center they want without the limitations from health insurance providers that so many individuals encounter. In addition, rehabilitation programs will usually provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain treatment programs will take Medicaid when the individual cannot self pay or present any other type of private health care insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term treatment within a limited amount of facilities, and in this instance individuals may choose to investigate the self pay option and come up with up any resources they can to fund a more quality rehabilitation center which will get better results, say for example a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at drug and alcohol treatment centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehab when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with establishing the individual's treatment plan. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being the same as any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehabilitation being paid for through Medicare Part B.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some sort of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service ranging from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs. Individuals could have to take part in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility that's inside their network of providers and there can be other restrictions including the amount of time their stay in treatment is covered. Individuals can pick a quality center they like and consult with a treatment counselor to find out if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the price of particular drug abuse treatment services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient programs along with partial hospitalization are all covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can liaise with their VA or Tricare representative. There can be some limitations about how much time a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered prior to starting rehab so that it is clear how much time and individual can remain in the treatment facility of choice.
