ASL or Other Assistance for Hearing Impaired

The hearing impaired can often be predisposed to alcoholism and drug and alcohol use as a result of challenges that their impairment impose on them. While detection of this problem is often difficult among the hearing impaired, you will find ASL as well as other assistance services available for them when substance abuse rehabilitation is required. Aside from ASL, such services may include assistive listening tools and captioned video resources to ensure that deaf and hearing impaired people are getting the support they need in drug and alcohol treatment.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when a person's insurance won't pay for the total cost of rehabilitation or will only cover some of it. In these instances, it may seem like a disadvantage but people really have a great deal of leverage because they can choose whichever facility they want without the restrictions from health insurance providers that so many people face. In addition, treatment centers will usually offer payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into treatment.

Medicaid

Certain treatment facilities accept Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present another kind of private medical insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term rehab within a limited amount of programs, and in this case individuals may choose to explore the self pay option and come up with up any resources they can to fund a more quality rehabilitation facility which will produce better results, such as a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of alcohol and drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not a possibility. If someone doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know if they may be eligible for state insurance, they can talk with their Social Services office in their area to figure out if they are and then fill out an application. Most state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but usually only within the state which provides the insurance.
